Q&A: Birk Storm – Music no one has heard before
Categories: Denmark • Features • Rock

We have been fans for quite a while and back in September electro-funk one man army Birk Storm won the competition Karriere Kanonen (“The Career Cannon”) on the biggest Danish radio station, P3.
1800 songs were submitted by bands and artist dreaming of the big breakthrough and three winners were selected, among them this 25 year old drummer with the title track from his debut album ‘I Don’t Care’, which is released tomorrow February 2.
ALL SCANDINAVIAN got Birk Storm to take the stand in our Q&A interview series, and here’s what he has to say about himself and his music:
Who?
“I am Birk Storm. I make music. I produce and record everything by myself in my flat.“
Where?
“I live in Copenhagen and I’ll start touring Denmark in April and May.”
What?
“Electro-funk. Two types of delicious music in one. I take the groove from funk and mix it with the sounds from electronica. Many compare me to artists like Prince, The Streets, Andre 3000, Justin Timberlake and even The Police. I don’t know if that’s true, but I do know that it’s difficult to put Birk Storm in a box. Have a listen and judge for yourself.”
Why?
“Because I have something to say. Something new. I make music no one has heard before. Music where musicality and integrity comes first. Music where it’s all about music and dancing and listening and feeling good… Or bad. Whatever you feel like when you hear it.”
