The Interbeing: Edge Of The Obscure
Categories: Albums • Denmark • Metal

‘Edge Of The Obscure’ is The Interbeing’s debut album, but the Danish tech-metallers have been around for ten years. The album’s well worth the wait, though, as it could be one of the best Scandinavian metal releases in 2011. Fans of Meshuggah, Fear Factory et cetera will certainly be in for a treat.
Who are they?
Dara Toibin (Vocals), Jacob Hansen (Bass), Boas Segel (Guitars/programming), Torben Pedersen (Guitars/vocals) and Kristoffer Egefelt (Drums).
How’s the album?
It’s ace, really. Samples and synths are predominant, but never stand in the way for the bitching guitar-work and complex yet the surprisingly catchy melodies. And while the blend between growly verses and melodic clean voice choruses certainly is a tried and tested formula – cf. Raunchy, Dead By April, Mercenary and many more – The Interbeing somehow manage to avoid becoming a cliché, mostly because of the brilliant songwriting, a cold and chill provoking atmosphere and the aforementioned bitching guitar-work. Which is really, really bitching. Check out the track ‘Face Deletion’ – the musical equivalent to being run over by a dump truck – in the player, and you will know what I’m babbling about.
Check them out, if you like:
Hanging around deserted factories at night, being angst-ridden and angry at the same time.
