SpaceScan11 #20: The Eclectic Moniker and The Unguided
Categories: Alternative • Denmark • Features • Metal • Sweden

Today is a bank holiday in Denmark, but ALL SCANDINAVIAN (almost) never rest, so here is the Friday SpaceScan, presenting the Swedish metal ‘n pop trio The Unguided and the Danish indie ‘n afropop nine-piece The Eclectic Moniker. Check them out, perhaps let us know what you think – comments are always nice – and then have the best possible weekend…
The Unguided (SE)
Now, here’s something to look forward to. The Unguided is a new trio consisting of former Sonic Syndicate vocalists Richard Sjunneson and Roland Johansson as well as current Sonic Syndicate guitarist Roger Sjunneson. They will release their debut album later this year but recently put out the two track-single ‘Nightmareland’ which is awesome. Heavy on testosterone, heavy on synths, heavy on attitude and with melodies that will stay in your head while kicking aforementioned head in at the same time. (TB)

Fronted by singer and songwriter Frederik Vedersø, Copenhagen nine-piece The Eclectic Moniker move in melancholic indie-afropop with Paul Simon one obvious reference. It’s really good stuff, witnessed by ‘2 Officers’ in the player and the rest of the four song EP ‘A Part Of Something Bigger’ they’re selling on Bandcamp, and I’m looking forward to more from the outfit, which should apparently happen sometime later this year.
