Alright, so the ALL SCANDINAVIAN office crystal-ball needs to be polished. We ranked Vanity Beach’s sophomore effort ‘A Life Of Vice’ as one album to triumph in 2009, but it was delayed. A lot. Last year it was released in Finland, and zippediduda! – two years later the Finnish rockers’ long awaited album’s out internationally. And it’s great thankfully…

Who are they?
The lineup has changed a few times after the album was recorded, but essentially we are talking about of a gang of nihilistic Finns – heavy on attitude, heavy on makeup and most importantly: heavy on talent - fronted by vocalist Jonas Karsten and guitarist Lars Pontus Nybergh.

How’s the album?
The overall sound of ‘A Life Of Vice’ is cold, pessimistic and utterly cool. Frontman Jonas Karsten sneers and snarls and pronounces “you” as “jouuw” which might put some people off, but I love it. The keyboards are more 80’s than yo-yos, and the drums and guitars are tight as hell. A few songs have been released previously on 2007′s EP ‘Garden of Cruelty’, but are worth mentioning again. The track ‘Garden of Cruelty’ is one of the best party songs for new wave-ish goth kids ever, and the noisy ‘Batcave (We Come Out At Night)’ is strangely addictive. The new songs are great too – especially ‘Diving Together’, a lovely little love song with a bitter end.
