Guitarist Søren Andersen’s been a part of the Danish music business for two decades, yet at the ripe age of 37 released his first solo album. He wrote everything, produced and mixed the album, and recorded it in a studio he happens to co-own. Now, without going into specific finger-pointing, many great guitarists have released lame solo albums, but Mr. Andersen is certainly on to something really good.

Who is he?
Søren Andersen has been a part of the bands Kick The Kangoroo and Superfuzz, played with Mike Tramp, Glenn Hughes, Dave Mustaine, Marco Mendoza, Tommy Aldridge, Billy Sheehan and many more, as well as having produced albums for a wide range of Danish and international acts.

How’s the album?
According to himself there’s not much going on inside Andersen’s head besides music. And he really, really loves his music and his guitar – which shines through on the album. Just by listening to the songs you can tell that Andersen, and the rest of the band for that matter, have played them with big goofy smiles on their faces, foots on monitors and hair flying around in the air. That’s an endearing quality and so is the fact, that even though Søren Andersen undeniably is an amazingly skilled guitarist, he resists the urge to show off. The guitar solos are short, sharp and leaves you hungry for more.

‘Constant Replay’ draws on a wide range of influences. Lenny Kravitz could easily have played the slow ‘So Many Faces’, a bit of The Black Crowes-ish sound can be heard in ‘Cold Shock’, Jimi Hendrix would nod approvingly to the 70s inspired songs, and as such you can find references to a lot of guitar rock from the 1970s to now if you want to. But that’s really a pointless exercise as ‘Constant Replay’ works perfectly on its own. It doesn’t reinvent any genres, but is just a solid, well-played, great rock album with lots of twangs and pings you don’t hear the first time, but appreciate the fourth or fifth time you go through the tracks.
