Q&A: Joensuu 1685 – Making music is crazy
Categories: Features • Finland • Rock

They are three weeks away from a possible Finnish Best Band Grammy for their acclaimed eponymous 2008 debut album and two weeks ago we featured the trio in our weekly SpaceScan.
We got hold of Risto and Mikko Joensuu from Joensuu 1685 who shared the questions between them, Risto knowing the answers to Who and Where and Mikko knowing What and Why.
Who?
“Brothers Mikko and Markus & Risto playing music under our last name and numbers.”
Where?
“Originally from upper west coast of Finland (Ostrobotnia) and nowadays located in Helsinki.”
What?
“Never-ending beats and bass riffs, filled with noisy guitars and pastoral organs. Somewhere in the background you still hear something Dolly Parton could sing.”
Why?
“We don’t know why. Making music is crazy, but everyone seems to be enjoying themselves!”
