Q&A: Jacob Faurholt – Long live the album!
Categories: Denmark • Features • Rock

A couple of weeks back you got my pleased opinion on Jacob Faurholt’s insistingly moving second solo effort, ‘Are You In The Mood For Love?’ (read the review here). To follow up I handed Faurholt the microphone and today you get in on the W’s according to the Aarhus-based singer/songwriter.
Who?
“Jacob Faurholt, born and raised in Hørning, a small town outside Denmark’s second city Aarhus where I live now. Educated teacher and working at an all immigrant children primary school. Write songs which I don’t find as sad as many like to describe them.”
Where?
“Everywhere, please…”
What?
“Good music. Without inspiration and an investigative interest in music there’s nothing to reach for. Not to say you should copy your influences, but it’s important to have them – and preferably in large numbers and incarnations. Right now I’m listening to the new M. Ward album and Lucinda Williams’ choir on ‘Oh Lonesome Me’ is just delightfully hoarse!”
Why?
“Good question… Perhaps because making music is a good way to reach catharsis, express one self. And of course because it’s fun and adds value to existence as all good interests do. I love writing a collection of songs and then try to circumscribe them as a collected work. Long live the album!”
