SPOT Festival, 80 percent scheduled
Categories: Denmark • Faroe Islands • Finland • Iceland • Live • Sweden

This year two changes concerning SPOT Festival are worth noting: 1) It’s moved back to May 21-23, and 2) Electronica and metal receives extra attention. Oh, and then it’s their 15. anniversary which could add extra spice to the proceedings – however, that’s just me thinking out loud. Not that it’s really needed, the spice, because SPOT has always been a great festival to discover what’s going on in Scandinavia and especially Denmark.
Located in downtown Aarhus with all venues within at most a 10 minute walk from each other, it’s intended a showcase for Scandinavian music – and music export the main goal. The lineup always holds a mix of upcoming and (very) established artists and it’s no different this year with confirmed DK acts like Tim Christensen and Carpark North representing the latter.
As mentioned this year the festival also pays special attention to the thriving electronica and metal scenes with acts like Rumpistol, Electrojuice plus ALL SCANDINAVIAN favorite Birk Storm serving up bleeps ‘n beats, and Danish Metal Award winners Scamp, As We Fight and Kellermensch (another of our favorites) among others cranking up the amps.
Also, we’re happy to note that quite a few of the acts we’ve had the pleasure of bringing to you in various shapes and forms, e.g. Ólafur Arnalds and Dísa (both Iceland), Baskery (SE), ORKA (FO) and Joensuu 1685 (SF), are confirmed along with Danish acts Beta Satan, Are We Brothers? and Choir Of Young Believers.
