Video: The Gypsies – Part Of Me
Categories: Denmark • Urban • Videos

With an album come music videos, and it’s no different for Danish organic funk hoppers, The Gypsies. This one is for the first single from their critically acclaimed debut, ‘One Hand Up’, produced by innovative Good Boy! Creative and directed by award winning director, William Stahl. A team that has also shot videos for Figurines, Spleen United and Green Concorde among others.
According to Good Boy! Creative they wanted to signal something different with the video for ‘Part Of Me’, abandoning the usual hip hop/R&B aesthetics, while presenting The Gypsies as the fresh, new kids on the hip hop block they are. They wanted the video to look and feel down to earth (again like the band), and towards the end you can actually see a guy walking around in the background as if nothing out of the ordinary is going on. Mission accomplished!
‘Part Of Me’ was shot in an old warehouse that was used as rehearsal studio for local bands at the time. Sadly it burned down a month after The Gypsies shoot, taking with it a lot of music equipment and a couple of BMW’s from a nearby car-dealership.
