Gipsy Train: The Flying Dutchman
Categories: Albums • Faroe Islands • Rock

From the Faroe Island’s capital Tórshavn comes the eight man high Gipsy Train with their solid debut album ‘The Flying Dutchman’, which earned them two Planet Awards nominations for Best Band and Best New Band. The gang moves in the Balkan rocking sphere made famous by Kaizers Orchestra and Gogol Bordello, two acts along with compatriot Budam they couldn’t avoid being compared to even if they begged, and while ‘The Flying Dutchman’ can’t be accused of being wildly fresh and attention grabbing all the way through it’s definitely not without moments of high quality and entertaining ideas and as such it turns out a great first effort (oh, and rumor has it they’re great live, so if you get the chance…).
