ORKA: Aldan Reyð

Categories: AlternativeFaroe IslandsVideos

Ye who follow ALL SCANDINAVIAN on a regular basis know that I’m quite excited about the Faroese experimental rock outfit ORKA and their so far two albums ‘Livandi Oyða’ (2009) and ‘Óró’ (2011). A few videos accompany the latter, latest this hauntingly beautiful one for ‘Aldan Reyð’, directed by Heiðrik á Heygum and shot in the Faroese mountains and featuring the first known footage of Huldufólk – supernatural beings which are part of Faroese folklore. Huldufólk (“hidden people”) are said to be tall, pretty and always dressed in grey. They are neither good nor evil, dislike crosses, churches and electricity, and live in big rocks or mounds.
