Bliss: No One Built This Moment
Categories: Albums • Denmark • Electronica

They’ve sold bundles of albums and been featured on more than 300 compilations. They’re represented on the ‘Sex & The City’ original soundtrack and have contributed with five tracks to crime show C.S.I.. Carlos Santana wants to use one of their songs and 80s icon Boy “Culture Club” George have lent his aging voice to this fourth album by the Danish duo Bliss aka Steffen Aaskoven and Marc-George Andersen.
Four years on from their latest effort, ‘They Made History – A Soundtrack For & Inspired By The TV Series’ (preceded by ‘Afterlife’ (2001) and 2003s ‘Quiet Letters’), the duo is ready with a fresh batch of ambient chill-out electronica with elements of classical and world music plus a string of guest vocalists adding generously to the experience.
Although it can at times get a little too New Age touchy-feely, defining tracks ‘Calling’ featuring Sophie Barker (Zero 7) and duet ‘American Heart’ featuring aforementioned Mr. George and Alexandra Hamnede along with the grandiose ‘Bascar Azad’, Sade-jazzy ‘So Still’ and upbeat ‘Stop Me’, both featuring Barker on vocal and the latter one good remix away from also breaking in da clubs, make ‘No One Built This Moment’ a great match to moments of melancholic pondering and/or blissful chilling in the sun.
