Kvelertak: Bruane Brenn
Categories: Norway • Rock • Tracks

Kvelertak blew me away with their eponymous debut album in 2011. The followup, ‘Meir’, is due in March but first single ‘Bruane Brenn’ is out now. ‘Meir’ is produced by Kurt Ballou of the legendary hardcore outfit Converge and he says about the album: “It’s just more Kvelertak. It’s everything they did on the last record and they’ve pushed it even further. The poppy stuff it poppier, the metal stuff is metal-ier, the catchy stuff is catchier, the fast stuff is faster and the slow stuff is slower” – which sounds promising indeed. There is a brand new invention on the single, though: Amidst frontman Erlend Hjelvik’s trademark manic screaming there is a bit of – for a lack of a better word – singing. It works.
