SpaceScan09 #36: High Hat and EF
Categories: Electronica • Faroe Islands • Features • Rock • Sweden

Another week passed and it’s time for SpaceScan, this one continuing last week’s completely non-related theme. Today I got a Faroese electronica duo and a Swedish post-rock quintet lined up for you, and I hope you will dig it. The first are calling themselves High Hat, the latter have taken the name EF.

From the Faroe Islands hails this duo, composed of Sakaris Emil Joensen and Janus Rasmussen (Kiasmos, Bloodgroup). Electronica is their game and they play it well, not least in evil deep house track ‘Derailed’ and the funky, should-be club smash hit ‘The Nineties’ in the player below, which are two of four tracks streaming on MySpace.

EF (SE)
Guitars, strings, a trumpet, more guitars and a laptop are main components in music as it’s perceived and played by quintet EF from Gothenburg, Sweden. It’s epic post-rock calling for comparisons to acts like Explosions In The Sky and Sigur Rós and they’ve got two albums under their belts, the latest ‘I Am Responsible’ from last year.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
