SpaceScan11 #05: Tetris = Therapy and Affictionados
Categories: Alternative • Denmark • Electronica • Features • Sweden

It’s Friday and a much needed weekend is nigh, but before I leave you to do whatever you do on weekends, here’s another edition of the SpaceScan presenting Swedish one-man band Affictionados and Danish trio Tetris = Therapy. Changing nothing you only have to read, listen and hopefully enjoy the music…
Affictionados (SE)
Behind the moniker Affictionados hides Malmö resident Carl Nordstöm, who whip jazz, 1990s trip and hip hop, noughties electronica and alternative pop (‘Pickpockets Vow’ in the player) together in a groovy bowl of vinyl scratching goodness with obvious movie soundtrack qualities. He released his eponymous debut in 2009, ‘MMX’ (an album inspired by the streets and districts of Malmö City between 1998 and 2003) in January, and have an EP coming out pretty soon.

I was tipped about this Danish trio at the very end of 2010 and have finally gotten around to checking them out. I only regret I haven’t done so earlier, because Kasper Guldberg Husted, Jeppe Høi Justesen, and Rune Riisbjerg Thomsen’s enticing, cinematic combo of shoegaze, post-rock, electronica and indiepop is a winner. Tetris = Therapy released their debut album ‘Acquaintances’ last year, and you can stream it in full (and buy, both as download and a limited edition physical CD) on Bandcamp.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
