SpaceScan11 #30: Revival Hymns and Hunt
Categories: Features • Finland • Rock • Sweden

The thirtieth SpaceScan of 2011 is all about post-rock, presenting two quintets from Finland and Sweden respectively. First up are Revival Hymns from Tampere, who are giving away their solid debut album ‘Feathers’, and they’re followed by Hunt, fronted by Susanna Brandin in every way and with a great five track EP available on Bandcamp. Enjoy both and the weekend…

From Tampere, Finland, comes five-piece Revival Hymns who released their self-produced debut album ‘Feathers’ the other day. It’s grandiose and atmospheric, delicate and harsh, mixing post-, prog-, indie- and shoegaze-rock and even a little grunge to a 40 minute shot of goodness, you can download for free on revivalhymns.com. However, if you’re in a giving mood head for Bandcamp and support the fellows with a little cash. Good stuff…

Hunt (SE)
Gothenburg based Susanna Brandin, who’s also known as acoustic singer/songwriter Winter Took His Life, has gone electric and slowcore post-rocky with her new band Hunt (a quintet by the looks of it). They have a five track EP titled ‘Ashes Of A Secret Heart’ available for streaming – and buying of course – on Bandcamp and here’s a taste in the achingly melancholic ‘What A Night Can Do’. Great!
