Another month has passed and guest blogger Pär Berglund from Meadow Music returns with a new, varied selection of Swedish music, this time around bringing five acts and a matching number of downloadable tracks to the table. Changing nothing all you have to do is a bit of reading, listening, downloading and then click a link for more. Enjoy…
The Percivals released their second and eponymous EP this autumn. With their feet firmly set in the 60s rock scene fueled by The Who and The Kinks, they take us on an odyssey through this decade containing also a couple of pit stops across the Atlantic in the growing scene of country rock. Add to that an authentic singer and great songwriting. Download ‘Man With The View’ with a Right Click + Save As here!

The Volcano felt like a gust of fresh air when I listened to their new self-titled EP. A gust of punk energy with a genuine live feeling mixed with new musical ideas makes this a very interesting band to follow. Download ‘All My Friends Are On Pills’ with a Right Click + Save As here!

The band Cobra Trio (photo) play a dense and tight rock reminding me of heavy blues rock from the seventies. With Black Sabbath vibes and some Foo Fighters energy also in the mix they have created their debut EP ‘Cobra Fever’ that makes good promises for the future of this band. There are quite a few good psychedelia bands out there right now and side effects is one of them, influenced by Pink Floyd, The Who, Love and The Soundtrack of Our Lives. The classic ingredients are there but still they sound different. Maybe it’s their sound that builds up to these grand, massive sound images or maybe it’s the hints of melodic influences from Manic Street Preachers and The Doves, I don’t know, but their new EP ‘Feel Flows’ is a really good one. Petter Seander, who’s been playing with Kristian Anttila for the past six years, has also started his own solo career. It took off last year with his full length debut and this fall he released the second album ‘Til Death Do Us Apart’. Mostly it’s about good upbeat indiepop songs, maybe with an air of the pop tradition coming from Göteborg, but the album also contains some excellent breathing spaces.
