SpaceScan09 #16: Bet You Are William and Parachutes
Categories: Faroe Islands • Features • Iceland • Rock

A Faroese one-man power pop act sporting grandiose Scandinavian melancholy á la Kent and hooks Coldplay should envy and a group of Icelanders toying with toys and every-house objects while creating ethereal pops of beauty is on display in this week’s SpaceScan. Hope you will enjoy them as much as we do…
Parachutes (ISL)
Toys, various every-house objects making sounds if handled right and, of course, more regular instruments is the foundation of Parachutes – a foundation on which they create ethereal pops of scintillating beauty in the veins of Sigur Rós. The Icelandic outfit are currently working on their debut album which should be out sometime in 2009.

It’s great power pop with sharing attitude with acts like Bloc Party and Editors, sporting grandiose Scandinavian melancholy á la Kent and pop hooks Coldplay should envy. Bet You Are William aka Petur Háberg released his debut album, ‘See Inlaid Heart For Details’, late last year from which four songs and a remix are streaming on MySpace.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
