SpaceScan09 #23: Let Me Play Your Guitar and I Am Sound
Categories: Denmark • Features • Norway • Pop • Rock

Today Denmark celebrate the induction of our first constitution in 1849, which has just about nothing at all to do with our weekly SpaceScan. One half is Danish, though, presenting two brothers evoking the rather rare and contradictory feeling of melancholic euphoria. The other is Norwegian (they celebrate their first constitution from 1814 on May 17), more precisely alternative pop artist I Am Sound.

I haven’t been able to find a whole lot of info on this Norwegian singer and songwriter, other than he began making music out of boredom and that he’s still unsigned. So, we’re gonna have to let his music speak for him – and it speaks plenty. It’s ethereal, yet majestic alternative pop not entirely unlike his compatriot Bellman and you can listen to three of I Am Sound’s moving songs on MySpace.

Let Me Play Your Guitar (DK)
Rooted in the 1960/70s folk rock, the semi-psychedelic Eastern influences included, Danish brothers Emil and Jeppe Davidsen have created a small Nirvana somewhere in between Fleet Foxes and Simon & Garfunkel, their little-big songs evoking the rare and contradictory feeling of melancholic euphoria. That Let Me Play Your Guitar still live below label radar is beyond me.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
